Pledge of Allegiance, the Remix!

In preparation for President Kanye in 2020 perhaps we should revisit a few outdated American traditions, like the Pledge of Allegiance. I’ve written about how heavy the current pledge is for young children, so maybe we can update it to better connect to a generation that will one day lead this great country.

I pledge allegiance to the Earth, our home.
I promise to respect it wherever I roam.
I’ll re-use and recycle to help with conservation.
I’ll take care of our great planet for future generations!

I pledge allegiance to my community,
Even to the people that might not look like me.
I’ll laugh, I’ll love, and I promise not to judge.
I’ll always be forgiving and I’ll never hold a grudge.

Last, but not least, I pledge allegiance to myself.
I’ll always strive to learn and put my ego on the shelf.
I’ll respect myself and ask that you respect me.
I’ll never stop working to be the best that I can be!
